DVAA presents ‘The Rejuvenary River Circus’

NARROWSBURG, NY — The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA) is kicking off its spring cultural series on Saturday, April 27 at 4 p.m. with a family-friendly puppet show, “The Rejuvenary River Circus,” by the Hudson Valley-based theater group Arm-of-the-Sea.

The performance will take place at the Tusten Theatre. Tickets cost $10 for adults and free for children under 12 years old.

Open mic to support local Special Olympics

HONESDALE, PA — The Bodhi Tree Art School & Studio will host a very special open mic on Sunday, April 28, from 2 to 5 p.m. Admission and refreshments are free, but donations are encouraged. Sponsored by AM Skier Insurance, The Wayne Bar Association and Community Vocational Services, Inc., all proceeds from the event will go to the Area P Special Olympics, which serves athletes in Wayne, Pike, Susquehanna, Lackawanna and Wyoming counties.

This special open mic will feature Special Olympic athletes as well as other differently abled people as they perform their talents for the community. There will also be several people who are current support workers to the individuals who will perform. 


‘An Eye on the Tip of Their Tongue’: poetry and Zen practice

NARROWSBURG, NY — Myoki Marcia Nehemiah, poet and lay ordained Zen practitioner, will facilitate a five-session class to explore the relationship between poetry and Zen Buddhist practice. The class will be held on Tuesdays, May 7, 14, 21, 28, and June 4 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Two Rivers Zen Community.

The full course costs $45 or $10 per class. Class size is limited and registration closes on April 30. All are welcome and no experience with poetry or Zen practice is necessary.

Beads, fabric and paint—oh my!

SHOHOLA, PA — On Saturday, April 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., visit with the Artists’ Market Community Center’s Artist-in-Residence, Mef Gannon.

She will be discussing and demonstrating her process in using colors, textures and fabric to craft quilts, jewelry and wall hangings.


Free Tai Chi demonstration and class

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — On Wednesday, May 1 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Lenny Friedland will present a free Tai Chi demonstration and class at the Janice Center. Classes will continue to meet every Wednesday but will cost $10 a week.

Often described as “moving meditation,” Tai Chi is a low-impact activity that is suitable for people of all ages and virtually any physical condition. Tai Chi requires no special equipment; all you need is loose, lightweight clothing.

‘The Quarry Fox Critters of the Wild Catskills’ book discussion

GRAHAMSVILLE, NY — The Time and the Valleys Museum invites author and naturalist Leslie Sharpe to discuss her award winning book, “The Quarry Fox and Other Critters of the Wild Catskills,” on Sunday, April 28 at 2 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to share their own wildlife stories during a Q&A discussion after the program. This event is free for Museum and Neversink Association members and $5 for non-members. Admission includes light refreshments and access to the Museum’s two floors of exhibits.
