LIBERTY, NY — Local officials and residents gathered at the Left Bank Gallery on Main St. in Liberty on May 28, as Rep. Antonio Delgado announced the opening of his fourth office at that location. He said it is part of his effort to represent the interests of his constituents in Washington D.C.
“I talked an awful lot when I was running for office about accessibility and transparency and how important that is more than anything else as a sort of baseline of expectations for the community,” he said.
“I have two primary purposes. One is to restore peoples’ faith that representation can work for them; that has got to be number one. And then once we restore that sense of faith we can all come together and have real dialogue, open, honest genuine dialogue on the issues that matter for our community.
“I know you turn the TV on, you’re seeing all types of nonsense and chaos and dysfunction. But there is something that can happen beneath the surface of all of that, and it’s right here. There is something special about our community and our willingness to work across the aisle, and be collaborative in our efforts, to work through the hard times and better understand what our future can look like.”
