Delgado invites high school students to participate in art competition

KINGSTON, NY — Rep. Antonion Delgado (NY-19) invites high school students across New York’s 19th Congressional District to participate in this year’s Congressional Art Competition. Local art professors will select the top five pieces, then NY-19 residents can go online to vote for the winning artwork. The winner will have their art displayed in the U.S. Capitol for the year.

Artwork must be delivered in-person or by mail at one of Delgado’s district offices (Kingston, Delhi or Oneonta) no later than Monday, April 22. A release form must accompany submissions. Barryville Biennial Banners on the Byway Art Project

BARRYVILLE, NY — The Greater Barryville Chamber of Commerce is seeking artist submissions to replace the current welcome banners along the scenic river corridor of NYS Route 97. The new banners will debut Memorial Day weekend.

The artwork should pertain to the theme, “inspired by the community in which we live.” Artists are encouraged to include visuals influenced by nature, culturally-related, or other inspirations from our surroundings. Submitted works should be identifiable from a distance, as the banners chosen will hang 10 feet above the ground. There will be 20 banners chosen overall.

Calling all musicians

BETHANY, PA — To celebrate Second Saturday, April 13, musicians are invited to the Bethany Public Library from 4 to 8 p.m. for a “slow jam.” There will be a potluck during the break. Musicians of all skill levels and instruments are welcome. The slow jam is set to convene the second Saturday of each month.

Sullivan Renaissance orientation for volunteers

FERNDALE, NY — Sullivan Renaissance is hosting an orientation for its volunteer corps on Wednesday, April 17 at the CVI Building from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Registration is suggested, and light refreshments will be served.

The Sullivan Renaissance Volunteer Corps are ambassadors working to help guide and assist community volunteers in building healthy, active communities throughout the county.
