As a citizen, you deserve to have elected officials who will listen carefully to all who live, work, or pay taxes in our town, not just to those who voted for us; respect and respond to your concerns and your suggestions; deal with you in an open and fair manner; keep you fully informed about the issues they are considering; encourage you and your neighbors to participate in local government; comply with the letter and the spirit of the open meetings law and the town’s code of ethics; and do their homework.

The incoming supervisor will be responsible not only for such customary duties such as managing the budget, but will also take on the additional task of overseeing several new significant public works projects: sitework, design and construction of a new town barn and salt shed at the Highway Department’s new location on 17B; remediation, redevelopment and exploring potential new uses for the existing Highway Department site on Callicoon Creek; planning, design, construction and operation of a new sewage treatment plant for the Hamlet of Callicoon; decommissioning and demolition of the existing sewage treatment plant next to Agway, as well as exploring potential new uses and redevelopment of the site after the structures have been removed; operation of the newly created water district for the Hamlet of Callicoon, including planning, funding and overseeing much-needed repairs and upgrades.

I’m confident that I have the aptitude, education and experience necessary to oversee this work on your behalf. As supervisor, I will utilize many of the skills I have gained from working as a project manager for contractors and architects over the past 30 years: budgeting, coordinating and monitoring the work of engineers and contractors, controlling costs, and negotiating and administering contracts. I will search diligently for ways to reduce the cost of these projects to you, the taxpayer.
