HARRIS, NY — Catskill Regional Medical Center recently held a dedication ceremony for the addition of a CuddleCot™ to its birthing center. For parents, parting with a stillborn baby is the first part of what can be a long and difficult grieving process. The Cuddle Cot device aims to make that journey a little easier.
The CuddleCot™ is a cooling unit and, when placed within a Moses basket, pram, bassinet, or crib, provides precious hours of bonding with a baby who has passed away before the natural changes that occur in death become more apparent. The CuddleCot™ purchase for Catskill Regional was made possible by the donations of the CRMC Foundation, Foundation Chair Joan Farrow, and the Farrow family.
“Across the board almost all the parents we spoke with wish they would have spent more time with their baby. All the parents who were offered used a CuddleCot™,” said Madison’s Miracles founder Christina Stamper. “They credit its use as being a solid, healthy way to begin their mourning and grieving journey.”
