County commends its workers for years of service

WAYNE COUNTY, PA — During their first meeting of 2025, the Wayne County Commissioners recognized some of their many valuable employees throughout the county.

The first three workers recognized were in the transportation department. James Kettyle (who was not in attendance) and David Weeks celebrated five years of service, while Joel “Russ” Burnett celebrated 10 years. There to comment on his employees’ achievements was Wayne County Transportation Director Carl Albright.

“Both of these guys do an outstanding job for us,” Albright said. “They both have outstanding safety records, and they provide excellent service even in challenging circumstances.”

During his five years of work, Weeks has completed 4,636 passenger trips, while Burnett has accumulated 9,548 trips throughout his decade on the job.

“They work from 0 degrees to 100 degrees,” he continued. “And they provide a great service to our people, especially those who need it.”

Commissioner Brian Smith also commented on their accomplishments. “I know your days start early,” Smith began, “and I also know that your days go late.”

“The need for people to receive that transportation, sometimes on the weekends or early in the morning when they need to have dialysis, is critical to those people. I hear a lot of people out in the community say, ‘There’s transportation vehicles running all over the place,’ and well, they are.”

After more praise from commissioners Jocelyn Cramer and James Shook, Weeks and Burnett thanked the commissioners for their kind words. “We enjoy what we do.” Burnett said.

Next on the agenda was the recognition of chief clerk in the commissioners office, Andrew Seder, for five years of service.

“It’s been a pleasure since day one,” Smith said, “Your skill set continues to impress me, and it is well utilized here at the county. There are an awful lot of things that fall to you. Your discretion is excellent. Your care for the people here is excellent… Honestly, you are a real asset here to the community and I thank you for the work you do for us, helping us every single day.”

The final recognition of the day was for Commissioner Jocelyn Cramer for her five years of work for the county.

Smith began the recognition by praising Cramer’s passion for the county. “I think that you are someone who truly does care about the community…” Smith said. “I think you are the epitome of a respectful person who can work in conjunction with two other commissioners who care about the community, and who may not always share the same opinions, but we always do try to work together, and you are always part of that combination of work that really does come to the best solutions for the people of the county.”

“I’m amazed at the fact of what you bring to the table,” added Shook. “What you know, where you’ve been, where you traveled, what makes you who you are, makes you a very valuable part of this team.”

In other county news:

Arnold Anderson, Kenneth Coutts, Steven Gelderman and James Shook were all reappointed to new four-year terms on the Lake Wallenpaupack Watershed Management District Board. Additionally, it was approved that Charles Kelshaw would replace David Hooker on the board as a Monroe County at-large representative and was appointed to a four-year term.
