Shandelee Music Festival opens with virtual concert 

ONLINE — The 27th season of the Shandelee Music Festival (SMF) will adapt for the safety of the artists, staff and community. 

Sara Davis Buechner, the inaugural performer of Shandelee’s popular Sunset Concert Series, will offer an exciting “Afternoon of Piano Masterworks” on Sunday, June 28 at 3 p.m. Her program will include works by Joseph Haydn, Frédéric Chopin, Joaquín Turina and Rube Bloom. Buechner most recently performed at the SMF in 2018 for the 25th Anniversary Sunset Series Gala.

Buechner’s virtual concert will be offered through Facebook Live and other platforms. The upcoming SMF Facebook Live streams will be open to everyone.

Summer reading program kickoff

ONLINE — The Western Sullivan Public Library is hosting a not-so-ordinary juggling show, featuring Jester Jim’s tank full of props and has a looping machine. “Kids and adults alike will be talking about Jester Jim’s wild antics for weeks!” 

The program is intended for children over the age of 7, but all are welcome to enjoy.

‘Live @ Home:’ studio tours with Megan Udell and Charles Wilkin

ONLINE — On Saturday, June 27 at 7 p.m., Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA) Live @ Home series continues with studio visits with two local artists, Meghan Udell and Charles Wilkin. Both artists will host live-streamed tours from their studios where they are creating new art pieces.

Meghan Udell is a New York City and Jeffersonville, NY-based artist, using steganographic textiles as a means of tackling gender issues and safety of time and space from the feminine perspective. 

Originally from Buffalo, NY, Charles Wilkin is a recognized collage artist and beekeeper living and working in the Catskills. He is also co-founder of 2 Queens, a local coffee roaster and tea importer.

Community Tapestry project on display this summer

HAWLEY, PA — The Community Tapestry Project will be on display throughout the summer in four communities, three counties and two states, arriving and departing on Wednesdays through July and August: 

Bingham Park in Hawley from July 1 to 8 

Lackawaxen Village Park from July 15 to 22 

The Cooperage in Honesdale from July 29 to August 5 

The Delaware Valley Art Alliance in Narrowsburg from August 12 to 19

The project began in the fall as a collaboration with the community and Wallenpaupack High School. The pandemic stalled the project until Pocono Secrets stepped in to sponsor the event. Through social media, 50 panels were distributed.

Stourbridge Line is back on track

HONESDALE, PA — Stourbridge Line owner Tom Myles announced the line is running again while practicing proper COVID-19 safety procedures.
