Christina (Krystyna) W. Chmura of Cochecton Center, NY, a long time resident of the area, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY. She was 81.

The daughter of the late Miecryslawa Stefana Wozniaka and the late Marii Miecrylawy Ogonkow, she was predeceased by stepfather Albert Reszka and two brothers, Jacek Wozniak and Bogdgen Wozniak, husbands John Chmura and Anthony Kiss.

Christina was born in Poland on April 10, 1936. She came from Poland with her two brothers in 1948. She graduated from Parish School Archdiocese of New York in 1952. She was a graduate of the Grace H. Dodge Vocational School in 1955; Manhattan Medical Assistants School, where she became an X-ray technician, in April 1957; and Fordham Beauty School in May 1977.

She was employed by Manhattan Chase Bank; PS91 as a school teacher; cab driver; Kiss Towing; bartender at the Nutshell; Sullivan’s Department Store; Callicoon Hospital; and Kelly’s Home for Adults, and she was a rabbit farmer.

Christina is survived by her son Andrew Chmura and his companion Wendy Harrison; grandchildren Victor Chmura and Jamie Schmidt, Keven Chmura, Amberly Chmura, Heath Scott, and Shelby Keesler; great-grandchildren Tyler James Chmura, Willie John Chmura, Nicholas Chmura, Aiden Scott, Libby Scott and Quinn Scott.

A celebration of life will be held at the Lava Firehouse on May 19 at 12 noon.
