Visit the Sullivan County Youth Fair

LIBERTY, NY — Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (CCE Sullivan) invites the public to celebrate all that Sullivan County 4-H youth members, leaders, volunteers and clubs have accomplished throughout the year at the Sullivan County Youth Fair.

The fair takes place from Friday, August 16 through Sunday, August 18 at the Grahamsville fairgrounds.

From creative exhibits to entertaining animal shows and live auctions, there is something for everyone.

The Sullivan County Youth Fair is held annually with the Grahamsville Little World’s Fair. Fairgoers can walk the Youth Building and two full barns to view more than 1,000 projects on exhibit, projects Sullivan County 4-H youth have created and nurtured over the past year.

Animal showmanship competitions will be held throughout the weekend. There will be a horse show, beef show, swine show, dairy show and a sheep and goat show.

Fairgoers who attend on Sunday can also participate in the 4-H Livestock & Agricultural Products Live Auction, which begins at 1 p.m. in the Upper Show Ring.

Dozens of volunteers and staff spend many hours pulling together exhibits; factoring scheduling and space options; navigating animal and biosafety issues; coordinating and orienting volunteers and activities for the public; processing local, state and Ag & Markets paperwork; soliciting donations; training 4-H members in preparation for shows; and a number of other tasks. It all makes the Sullivan County Youth Fair a safe, fun learning experience for county kids.

With that in mind, join CCE Sullivan in celebrating the hard work and dedication of 4-H youth and volunteers.

Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County’s 4-H Youth Development program empowers any youth aged five to 18 to reach their full potential, working and learning in partnership with caring adults. 4-H members have opportunities to connect to Cornell University resources and gain career readiness skills through hands-on activities and learning by doing. Sullivan County youth can enroll in 4-H at no charge all year long. To learn more about 4-H, call CCE Sullivan at 845/292-6180 or visit www.sullivancce.org/4-h-youth-development
