NORTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA — Matt Cartwright, who formerly represented Northeastern Pennsylvania as the 8th District representative, has been appointed to the Pennsylvania Northeast Regional Railroad Authority.
While in office, Cartwright played a key role in advocating for the restoration of passenger service between Scranton and New York City. The authority is currently the Pennsylvania sponsor for that project, and has the broader goal of regionalizing the rail assets of Northeast Pennsylvania and marketing the region’s railroad capabilities to the global economy.
