Carolyn E. Bosch, of Eldred, NY, passed away at Kaplan Family Hospice Residence with her family at her side on Thursday, July 26, 2018.

The daughter of the late Harold Rhodes and Glandese (Gladys) Hokrein Rhodes Strauskulage, she was born in Clarks Summit, PA on August 12, 1929.

Affectionately known as “Mom” “Mama” and “Nana” to her family and “Evelyn” to her family and friends, Carolyn was a true matriarch of her immediate and extended family. She encouraged her children and grandchildren to be the best at whatever they set out to do and was always there to cheer them on for their accomplishments.

Carolyn made many friends throughout her life in Eldred and worked as a housekeeper in many different businesses and homes in the local area. Her most recent and favorite job was at Camp Koinonia. She immersed herself in many camp activities and enjoyed socializing with the camp staff. Carolyn worked well into her 80s until she retired. She loved to enjoy time spent with family and friends sharing old stories, having a salty margarita and dancing up a storm. Mom’s laughter could always be heard in the crowd and will be missed by those who loved her.

Carolyn’s husband, Robert Bosch, preceded her in death on October 3, 2014. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children, son Harold R. Bosch of Herndon, VA; two daughters, Robin Dyson-Velez and her companion Luis Nadal of Eldred, NY, Mary Scholten and her companion Dr. James Ryan III of Buffalo, NY; three grandchildren, Eric Bosch, Marlo Schorling and her husband Kevin, Tatiana Williams and her husband Joseph; five great-grandchildren, Seth (Joshua), Sean, Liam, Jake and Noah; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Carolyn is predeceased by her brothers, Harold Rhodes and Lester Rhodes; sisters, Janice Jenkins, Miriam Walsh and Anne Diebold; daughter-in-law Vicki Bosch; and granddaughter in law Mandy Bosch.

Cremation will take place at maple Hill Crematory, Archbald, PA.

A memorial service will be at a later date.

Donations can be made in Carolyn’s name to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan County, 800 Stony Brook Ct., Newburgh, NY 12550.
