Councilman

Vote for up to two

KEVIN MCDONOUGH

"My name is Kevin McDonough. My wife and I have been residents and taxpayers living on the shores of Little Lake Erie since 1989. I would be proud to represent my neighbors on the Tusten Town Council.

I have more than 20 years of board experience, having served on the Tusten Zoning Board of Appeals as member and chair, and on the Board of Trustees of the Western Sullivan Public Library as both trustee and president.

On both boards, I have worked with colleagues from both parties and all points of view. In a small rural community, sensible solutions are more important than partisanship.

Some of you may know me as “The TV Guy,” a syndicated television columnist. As a board member I would use my skills for collecting and distilling information to carve out a brief moment at every monthly meeting to announce the news and the needs of our local volunteer organizations. With this monthly roundup, I would present a short digest of their events, fund drives and ways that residents can donate to their cause or join their ranks.

Nothing represents small town citizenship better than the volunteer spirit. And there’s no finer way for new residents to get involved in Tusten than discovering and joining local organizations.

This is just one idea I have for making my impact felt on the town board, emphasizing neighborly cooperation and a need to open lines of communication between the board and residents.

Please consider voting for me on November 2."

GREG TRIGGS

"We are better together. I’m running for office because I love this town. I am ready to serve Tusten by preserving our strengths while responsibly embracing the town’s growth and improvements with respect. It’s my intention to represent everyone and support the diversity of our community.

As a council member, I’d strive to improve communication between the Tusten Town Board and the community. As part of that goal, I recently graduated from the E-Cornell New York State Public Health Professional class, which advocates for responsible, timely and factual community reporting.

With that in mind, I’d like to be the Tusten advocate for better cell phone and internet coverage.

Let’s create inter-generational programming that brings together our youth and older communities. Let’s advance partnerships supporting critical health and wellness needs. Let’s advocate for responsible economic development that creates jobs and keeps revenues where they belong—in Tusten, New York.

I am not running against anyone. I’m running to work with people. I’d be honored to help maximize the potential of our community as a member of the town board.

When deciding who you support, please feel free to reach out to me via email. My address is GregTriggs@gmail.com. Whoever wins, it is critical that citizens make their feelings known. Please remember to vote on or before November 2, 2021!"

Councilman (to fill vacancy)

Vote for one

JANE LUCHSINGER

"I, Jane Luchsinger, candidate with experience, seek re-election to the Tusten Town Board to continue to serve residents while completing two major projects that I began. Highlights of my eight years serving are:

Projects:

Little Lake Erie Culvert – I was able to work with a private firm to be awarded $941,000 towards this project. This has been an arduous project. With most complete, the culvert repairs are expected to be finished in the spring/summer of 2022.

Upgrade of the Narrowsburg Water System – when informed of an aging, neglected water system I sought ways to upgrade this system. I was the council member to get this process moving. The process is complex, time consuming and expensive. Once again I am working with an engineering firm to seek grant funding and/or low interest loans to reduce the taxpayer burden of the total expense.

My work is not limited to the above projects. See below.

Accomplishments:

Deputy supervisor: four years

Grants: The Town budget is approximately $2.2 milliion/year.  During my tenure, I have been successful to raise approximately $1.1 million in external grant funding.  That is equal to one-half of an annual budget that you, the taxpayer, saved!

Committees: Comprehensive Plan, Multigenerational Park Plan, Zoning Update, REAP Board Member

Organizations: Tusten Historical Society, Delaware Valley Arts Alliance, Repair Café, Chamber of Commerce

I am a board member who is not afraid of work. I dedicate my energies to areas that best serve you, and the Town of Tusten. Please vote November 2."
