LIBERTY, NY — Interested in aiding the effort to get all of Sullivan County vaccinated against COVID-19?

“As a relatively small county health department, and given the size and scope of getting vaccine out to everyone who wants it, we need help,” said Sullivan County Public Health Director Nancy McGraw. “We’re looking to greatly increase the scope of our vaccination clinics, with a plan to scale up to 600 to 1,000 doses a week rather than the 200/week we’ve been able to achieve due to staffing and the limited supply of vaccines.”

Sullivan County is currently applying to the federal government to host its own Medical Reserve Corps, but in the meantime, the county can sign up and activate volunteers to assist with vaccine delivery before, during and after clinics. Examples of non-medical volunteers include greeters, line monitors, registration, inventory, data entry and logistics.

“Registration in ServNY is open to any health care or mental health professional, as well as laypersons who are willing to serve in administrative or support roles during public health emergencies,” McGraw said. “I encourage anyone who’s over 18 and interested in helping out to put themselves on the list. The more people we have to help, the faster we can distribute vaccine when it becomes more widely available.”
