Broadway comes to Shandelee

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — The mountains above Livingston Manor will ring out with the sounds of Broadway on Saturday, August 4 when Michael Ferreri and Friends open the 25th anniversary season of the Shandelee Music Festival (SMF). It will be only the first in a total of six Sunset Concerts, to be performed between August 4 and 18.

The first concert for the SMF’s 2018 Sunset Concert Series will feature Ferreri, along with John Carden and Tony Oakley in “An Extraordinary Night of Broadway.” Ferreri is a musician and entertainer with a seemingly endless repertoire that has made him a favorite with a devoted fan base at cabarets, clubs and concerts in New York, London and across the U.S. Music critic Christopher Byrne says Ferreri is that “Rare artist who combines a uniquely personal talent with a rich musicality.”

Vocalist Carden has been associated with the world’s most prominent opera companies, orchestras and conductors and has performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Skylight Opera Theatre, Pennsylvania Opera and more. Carden has also written six musicals, including “Woody: A New Fairytale,” which will open off Broadway in 2019.

Oakley has traveled the world performing classical, jazz and Broadway. He was a featured vocalist in the U.S. tour of “Tommy, the Musical” and was a featured performer on the Seabourn and Cunard cruise lines.

The evening will feature duets such as “Agony” from “Into the Woods,” “Falling into You” from “The Bridges of Madison County,” and “My Heart Will Go On” from “Titanic.” Solo performances will include “This Nearly Was Mine” from “South Pacific,” “On a Clear Day” from the show of the same name, and many more Broadway favorites.

All performances in the Sunset Concert Series take place in a climate-controlled pavilion, and will be followed by a specialty dessert reception. The grounds and pavilion are completely accessible.
