Bresnahan statement on President Trump’s joint address to Congress

WASHINGTON, DC — On March 5, Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) released the following statement in response to President Donald J. Trump’s Joint Address to Congress, which was delivered the previous night, March 4. Rep. Bresnahan attended the address, as did Members of the U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Justices of the Supreme Court, Members of the President’s Cabinet, and their guests.

“Last night’s address by President Trump was a comprehensive look at where America is today, and where America is headed tomorrow,” said Rep Bresnahan. I was elated to hear President Trump highlight his initiatives that will make America safer, stronger, a leader in energy, and more economically prosperous.

“The Trump Administration is prioritizing our law enforcement and ensuring those who protect our communities have the tools needed to keep us and themselves safe. I am proud to support our law enforcement, and I am pleased to see the President and I have a mutual desire to improve recruitment, retention, and safety for our officers. Their safety goes hand in hand with protecting our people and our borders.

“Over the past six weeks, we have seen the Administration’s commitment to securing America’s borders. Last month marked the lowest level of illegal border crossings ever recorded. It is imperative we keep these crossing down as we combat against drug trafficking, the fentanyl crisis, and violet criminals.

“Additionally, we are unleashing American energy, allowing for America to maintain its status as the largest exporter of natural gas in the world. Energy dominance is necessary to guarantee America’s competitiveness on the world stage. It is the key to strengthening our economy, lowering costs for families, and boosting our national security.

“I will continue to work with my colleagues and the Trump Administration to move these priorities forward for the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania and the United States.”

President Trump, Donald Trump, Rob Bresnahan Jr.
