Bernard C. Cosgrove

Bernard C. Cosgrove of Narrowsburg, NY, a retired truck driver for the Teamsters and a lifelong resident of the area, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020 at Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Center in Lake Ariel, PA. He was 82. 

The son of the late Carl and Mildred (Buddenhagen) Cosgrove, Bernard was born August 31, 1938 in Welcome Lake, PA. 

Bernie was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of the Masons of Callicoon, NY and a member of the Shriners. He was also a member of the Penn York snowmobile club. 

He was the widow of Clara A. Arnold. She passed away on August 8, 2013. They were married for 50 years. 

A family statement reads: “Bernie was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was an avid sportsman—hunting, fishing and especially ice fishing. The family loved to go camping. He was a Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed NASCAR. He was a big part of the family [and] enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by friends and family.”

Survivors include his daughter, Maureen Cowger, and her husband, Ron, of Beach Lake, PA; son Michael Cosgrove and his wife, Ann, of Hawley, PA; brother Alan Cosgrove of Tennessee; five grandchildren: Ronald Cowger and his companion, Megan Sheard, of Beach Lake, PA, Kristi Gauger and her husband, Dan, of Pottstown, PA, Tiffany Cowger of Beach Lake, PA, Bryan Cosgrove and his wife, Jackie, of Honesdale, PA and Dustin Cosgrove and his companion, Emily Sugrue, of Hawley, PA; four great-grandchildren: Blake Collins, DJ Gauger, Logan Cosgrove and Clare Cosgrove; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Bernie is predeceased by his wife, Clara, and two sisters, Barbara McGinnis and Nancy Roche. 

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2021 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Harrison Rasmussen Funeral Home, located at 3412 Rte. 97, Barryville, NY 12719.
