MILFORD, PA — Englewinds will perform “Bees, Please!” on November 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Milford Theatre, 114 E. Catharine St. This concert by the award-winning woodwind quintet and piano will include pieces by Rimsky-Korsakov, Chopin, MacDowell and others. In keeping with the commitment of Kindred Spirits Arts Programs, the sponsor, to engage school children in music, Englewinds will also offer a master class and performance for students at Delaware Valley High School on November 2, and children under 15 will be admitted free to the November 3 performance.

Englewinds seeks to call attention to the rapid decline of the bee population in the United States, which is a threat to American farmers and to our food supply. However, that is not the group’s only concern. When director Sarah Daval assembled some of New York City’s top freelance woodwinds players to form Englewinds, the musicians undertook a broad environmental and humanitarian mission. Englewinds addresses the need for clean drinking water, the overbuilding of wetlands, maintaining parklands and more.

Englewinds’ top-notch musicians have performed with the New York Philharmonic, American Ballet Theater and Mostly Mozart. Seats for adults cost $20 at the door and $15 in advance at www.kindredspiritsarts.org, Holy Crepes (224 Broad St.), and Main Avenue Books (202 Main Avenue in Hawley, PA).
