Posted

HONESDALE, PA — Wayne County District Attorney A.G. Howell announced the arrest of Lawrence Geer, age 75, of Beach Lake, Damascus Township, Wayne County, Pennsylvania. Geer was charged with Corruption of Minors, a felony of the 3rd degree and Indecent Exposure, a misdemeanor of the 1st degree.

According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Wayne County Detective Michael McMorrow, a local student told her school guidance counselor about an incident involving her former babysitter that raised concerns, causing her guidance counselor to alert authorities.

An investigation was initiated by county detectives and it was discovered that the student’s former babysitter, Lawrence Geer, exposed his genitals to the student on at least two occasions between September 2018 and September 2020.

An arrest warrant was secured for Geer’s arrest and he turned himself into the county detectives at Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Dunsinger’s office.

A preliminary arraignment was conducted and he was released on $50,000 unsecured bail. Geer’s next court appearance is May 11,  at 9:00 a.m.

*The filing of criminal charges is not evidence of guilt but simply a description of the charge made by the Commonwealth against a defendant. A charged Defendant is presumed innocent until a jury returns a unanimous finding that the Commonwealth has proven the defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt or until the defendant enters a guilty plea to the charges.
