NEW YORK STATE — The state Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is accepting applications for sponsored pheasant hunts. These hunts are free, non-competitive events coordinated by a group or individual to benefit youth, women, first-time hunters, veterans and people with disabilities.

The DEC provides up to 50 propagated pheasants from its Reynolds Game Farm to each sponsor free of charge.

Program requirements and applications are available to download on the DEC website. Applications must be received by Reynolds Game Farm, the provider of pheasants, no later than September 1.

Successful applicants will be called, and sponsors will need to coordinate with the Reynolds Game Farm to arrange a delivery time, date and location. State guidelines for social gatherings must be followed.

For more information, visit the state DEC website at https://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/
