ORANGE, SULLIVAN AND ULSTER COUNTIES — On the morning of March 12, The Rowley Family Foundation, in collaboration with the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan (CFOS), announced the establishment of the Fund for Women and Children (FWC) at a launch event in New Windsor, NY. Their initiative is focused on helping women and children of Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties prosper by offering help to improve lives and enhance communities. Through specific financial funding, the FWC will address issues impacting members of the community.

In its inaugural year, the FWC will support up to $500,000 in grants ranging from $15,000 to $50,000 to nonprofits working in these three counties and will be geared toward the empowerment of women and children. Funding priority will be focused in the following: hunger, homelessness, drug use, education, health, poverty, domestic violence, child abuse and workplace sexual harassment. The Rowley Family Foundation funded the creation of the 2018 Women and Children Report in its efforts to educate and instill knowledge of issues affecting the community. Through research and data-driven statistics in the region,  this educational report will guide the focus and direction of the grants.

“The response to our Women and Children Fund kickoff exceeded our expectations… Clearly, the nonprofit community in Orange, Ulster, and Sullivan concur with our recently completed study and have enthusiastically embraced the mission of the fund. We expect to receive many transformative grant applications before the April 12th deadline and will be awarding the $500,000 by the end of May,” said Rich Rowley.

Additional questions should be directed to womenandchildrenfund@gmail.com or 845-769-9393. Applications must be submitted by April 12. Decisions will be announced in May.
