SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY — Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (CCESC)’s Caregiver Resource Center offers several free Alzheimer’s workshops this summer. The first, “The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia, & Alzheimer’s Disease, is on Wednesday, July 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jeffersonville branch of the Western Sullivan Public Library, 9 Center St, Jeffersonville. It provides information on detection, causes and risk factors, stages of the disease, treatment and more.

“Understanding & Responding to Dementia-Related Behavior” will take place on Friday, July 13 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Care Center at Sunset Lake, 256 Sunset Lake Rd. Learn to decode behavioral messages, identify common behavior triggers and learn strategies to help intervene with some of the most common challenges of Alzheimer’s.

“Living with Middle-Stage Alzheimer’s” will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on three dates: July 17, 24 and 31. at the CCESC Education Center, 64 Ferndale-Loomis Rd., Liberty. The three-part series discusses strategies to provide safe, effective and comfortable care in the middle stage of Alzheimer’s, presented by caregivers and professionals.
