A changing landscape

We are entering Week Four where most of the staff are working from home. Production manager, Amanda Reed, and I have been holding down the fort. Meeting twice a week via Zoom, we continue to hone down our systems, roles and responsibilities.

As you can imagine, the news changes by the moment and keeping up with it is a challenge.

Reporter Owen Walsh reported this morning in our Monday a.m. staff meeting that Greater Honesdale Partnership's Executive Director Lisa Burns told him that whatever business resources she could give him today would be outdated in a couple of hours.

With that, I am extremely thankful for our robust website that can be changed instantaneously.

While the economic realities are very uncertain, the support for the paper has never been stronger. We are receiving a steady influx of new subscribers and there has been good participation with our What's Open business listing. We've connected with the Local Media Foundation and now can offer friends, family and subscribers an opportunity to support the paper with a tax-deductible donation.

We are thankful for the businesses that continue to put their faith in our community and in the paper's efficacy of delivering a local message to readers who deeply care about local life.

May we continue to stay away, stay connected and stay informed.

Spring will be bursting forth and, all in all, I am thankful.
