Seventh-inning sting

LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY — Things were looking up for the Lady Bulldogs softball team (1-5) until the final frame in the non-league game against the Lady Yellowjackets of Eldred.

On Wednesday, May 2 the visitors came to town undefeated, and with a four-run surge in the seventh inning, made it 5-0, as they defeated Sullivan West 10-6.

Lady Bears bomb Sullivan West

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — It was a real Ninja Warriors moment.

Early in the OCIAA Division V game against the visiting Lady Bears of Tri-Valley, Sullivan West batter Brooke Kloss got beaned on the batter’s brain bucket by an errant pitch, high inside and not very handsome.

Bulldogs Skin Wildcats 14-2

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — The gods that govern high school varsity baseball called it a day.

On Wednesday, April 18, the game between the home team Wildcats of Livingston Manor and the Sullivan West Bulldogs drew to a close after six innings once the visitors racked up a 14-2 lead.

Practice makes perfect

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY – Before the start of Friday’s varsity softball game against the Lady Eagles of John S. Burke Catholic School, the home team Sullivan West Lady Bulldogs practiced a series of battling exercises, supervised by veteran coach Mike “Elmo” Ellmauer, now in his 36th season as coach of high school sports.

Talkin’ trout and other fishy tales

LIVINGSTON MANOR/ROSCOE, NY — It was a day for taking about trout and all things fishy that lure them into the net and creel.

On Saturday, April 7, the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum (CFFCM) of Livingston Manor presented its annual host of events marking the start of the trout fishing season in the Empire State.
