SAUGERTIES, NY — On Saturday, May 26 it was all or nothing for the two teams taking to the Teddy Lorez Memorial Field to determine who would be crowned the 2018 Section IX Class D baseball champion.

And the winner was: the Tuxedo Tornadoes, as they blew past the number two-ranked Wildcats of Livingston Manor 9-1.

'Fast & Furious'

MIDDLETOWN, NY — It was Mike Mullally’s day in the blistering afternoon sun, as the Sullivan West senior and defending Empire State track star turned up the heat and smoked the competition in three events: 110m hurdles (14.20), 100m dash (11.24) and the 400m intermediate hurdles (58.45).

Out at first: Lady Spartans runner Alexa Roach didn’t quite make it against Bears first baseman Jordan Carmody.

Seward nicks Lady Bears

GRAHAMSVILLE, NY — On Thursday, May 24 the Lady Spartans of S.S. Seward (9-5) defeated the Tri-Valley Lady Bears 2-1 to win the Section IX Class C semifinal softball game.

Tri-Valley (4-7) drew first blood in the opening frame in the wake of a walk and a hit by Jordan Carmody.

Talk about a challenging varsity softball game between the Lady Bulldogs of Sullivan West (3-6 overall) and the Liberty Lady Indians (7-8) on Thursday, May 17.

Manor zips Yellowjackets 6-0

ELDRED, NY — For the home team Eldred Yellowjackets (0-9 overall, 0-4 league), it was a rather disheartening showing, as the visiting Wildcats of Livingston Manor (4-6, 4-2 ) nipped off their stingers in a non-league varsity baseball game on Tuesday, May 8.

Seventh-inning sting

LAKE HUNTINGTON, NY — Things were looking up for the Lady Bulldogs softball team (1-5) until the final frame in the non-league game against the Lady Yellowjackets of Eldred.

On Wednesday, May 2 the visitors came to town undefeated, and with a four-run surge in the seventh inning, made it 5-0, as they defeated Sullivan West 10-6.

Lady Bears bomb Sullivan West

JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — It was a real Ninja Warriors moment.

Early in the OCIAA Division V game against the visiting Lady Bears of Tri-Valley, Sullivan West batter Brooke Kloss got beaned on the batter’s brain bucket by an errant pitch, high inside and not very handsome.

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — The gods that govern high school varsity baseball called it a day.

On Wednesday, April 18, the game between the home team Wildcats of Livingston Manor and the Sullivan West Bulldogs drew to a close after six innings once the visitors racked up a 14-2 lead.
