Posted

On Thursday April 13, 2017 at approximately 12:44 PM, the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office received a report of a burglary in progress at 3335 State Route 42 South, in the Town of Thompson. Deputies responded to the scene and arrested two suspects at the rear of the residence. The two suspects, who were 17 years old had driven to the location on an ATV. They allegedly broke into the residence by throwing a rock through a rear window. The suspects were found in possession of a stolen chainsaw, tools, an electrical testing meter and collectables.

One suspect is from nearby School House Road and the other was from Picadilly Circle in Rock Hill. The Sheriff's Office is not releasing the names of the suspects as they may qualify for Youthful Offender status. The two youths were charged with Felony Burglary, and the Misdemeanors of Criminal Mischief and Petit Larceny. They were arraigned before Town of Thompson Judge Sharon Jankiewicz and sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $3,000 bail each.

Sheriff Mike Schiff reminded the public, "if you see something, say something. In this case an alert neighbor saw something suspicious and called the police immediately. It was a text book arrest", said the Sheriff.
