Pike County District Attorney Raymond J. Tonkin announced the following criminal sentences were issued by Pike County Court of Common Pleas Judge Gregory Chelak:

Zachary John Gogolen, age 36, of Matamoras, PA, was sentenced to 6 months to 12 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $400.00 and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crime of Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Eastern Pike Regional Police Department was dispatched to a business in Matamoras on September 9, 2015, where Gogolen, with an active warrant, was sighted.  Upon processing Gogolen for the arrest, he was found in possession of two baggies which tested positive for Heroin.

William Joseph Osborne, age 54, of Canadensis, PA, was sentenced to 6 months of probation and fined $500.00 for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. Osborne was stopped by the state police on September 18, 2015, for failing to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Hemlock Road and Brink Hill Road.  While speaking with Osborne, the trooper detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage and observed Osborne’s movements to be slow and sluggish and his eyes glassy and bloodshot.  Osborne admitted to drinking prior to driving.  A Field Sobriety Test was conducted which showed impairment and a breath test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .101%.

Taylor Brittany Guzzo, age 20, of Tafton, PA, was sentenced to 12 months of probation, fined $500.00 and had her driver’s license suspended for 6 months for the crime of Possession of a Controlled Substance.  The state police responded to the intersection of SR 507 and Route 6 in Palmyra Township for a report of a suspicious behavior on the part of Guzzo and another female.  A consent to search Guzzo’s vehicle revealed eighteen packs of Heroin.

Yolanda A. King, age 37, of Port Jervis, NY, was sentenced to 18 months of probation and fined $300.00 for the crime of Criminal Conspiracy.  As an employee of a business in Matamoras, King under-rang purchases at the cash register and used fictitious coupon codes to deprive the business of a large sum of money between February 11, 2014 and February 27, 2014.

Melissa M. Hadden, age 40, of Port Jervis, NY, was sentenced to 12 months of probation and fined $300.00 for the crime of Theft by Deception.  Hadden created a false impression when she rented a room a room in a Westfall Township hotel between March 5, 2014 through March 28, 2014, and advised the business that her house had caught fire and that her insurance company would be contacting the hotel to make payment.  Hadden accumulated $2,464.49 in room charges.

Alexis Marie Ortiz, age 21, of Bushkill, PA, was sentenced to 6 months of probation and fined $300.00 for the crime of Driving Under the Influence.  Ortiz crashed her vehicle into a tree on December 3, 2015, along Woodbridge Road in Lehman Township.  Ortiz was transported to the hospital for injuries, where she was interviewed by the state police.  In speaking with Ortiz, the trooper detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage and observed Ortiz to have glassy, bloodshot eyes.  Ortiz admitted to drinking prior to the vehicle crash.  A blood test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .133%.

Cary Jamar Palmer, age 23, of Milford, PA, was sentenced to 72 hours to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $1,025.00 and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crimes of Driving Under the Influence and Roadways Laned For Traffic.  The state police pulled Palmer over along SR 739 in Blooming Grove Township on July 19, 2015, for travelling across the fog line and double yellow line several times.  In speaking with Palmer, the trooper detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage.  A Field Sobriety Test was conducted which showed impairment and a preliminary breath test confirmed the presence of alcohol.  Palmer refused to submit to a chemical breath test.

Susan M. Bonnett, age 49, of Milford, PA, was sentenced to 72 hours to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, followed by 6 months of probation, fined $1,300.00 and had her driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crimes of Driving Under the Influence and Disorderly Conduct.  Bonnett was pulled over on August 23, 2016, along Route 6 and 209 in Westfall Township by the Eastern Pike Regional Police Department for driving erratically.  Upon speaking with Bonnett, the officer detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage and observed Bonnett’s pupils to be constricted and her speech slurred.  Bonnett stated that she had taken a prescribed medication prior to driving.  A Field Sobriety Test was not conducted due to concerns for Bonnett’s safety.  A breath test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .192%. 

Mackenzie Lynn Breen, age 23, of Florida, NY, was sentenced to 1 month to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, followed by 6 months of probation, fined $400.00 and had her driver’s license suspended for 6 months for the crimes of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Eastern Pike Regional Police responded to a residence on Shay Lane in Westfall Township on June 5, 2015, where Breen was located.  She was found in possession of Heroin, glassine packets and a needle. 

Nicholas R. Soules, age 25, of Sparrowbush, NY, was sentenced to a $300.00 fine for the crime of Retail Theft.  Soules took $319.97 worth of merchandise from a fireworks store in Westfall Township on July 3, 2016, without paying for it.
