Press release: On Friday November 23, the Village of Liberty Police Department arrested Sandra Houghtaling, 24 of Liberty, after responding to a report of a robbery in progress with a knife at the Chinatown Kitchen on State Route 52 in Liberty.  Liberty Police responded to the scene and found Houghtaling being detained by employees of the restaurant.

Investigation revealed that Houghtaling had stolen money from the tip jar located on the counter and attempted to flee the restaurant. Upon Liberty Police arrival she was taken into custody without further incident. Houghtaling was charged with robbery in the 1st degree,  two counts of assault in the second degree, felonies and petit larceny a misdemeanor. Houghtaling was arraigned in the Town of Rockland Court and remanded to Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
