Fallsburg couple sentenced for burglary

District Attorney Jim Farrell announced today that Manuel Castillo and Evelyn Sanchez, both 22, of South Fallsburg, N.Y., were sentenced in Sullivan County Court to 8 years in state prison and 5 years of post-release supervision by Supreme Court Judge Stephan Schick for Burglary in the 1st Degree, a class B violent felony.

Farrell said that both Castillo and Sanchez pled guilty, prior to trial, and admitted to entering an apartment in South Fallsburg, threatening the use of a baseball bat and knife, and stealing a wallet from the resident of the apartment.

Castillo and Sanchez were arrested after an investigation by Fallsburg Police.  Farrell said “while home burglary is down in Sullivan County over the course of the last five years, law enforcement and my office remain committed to holding those people who engage in these crimes accountable and responsible with state prison sentences.  These defendants will now be appropriately punished, with time behind bars, for the burglary of this occupied home.”
