LAKE ARIEL, PA — At about 9:30 pm on June 26, members from the Honesdale and Blooming Grove Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) stations responded to a private residence located on Eisenhauer Road in Salem Township, Wayne County after neighbors contacted Wayne County 911 to report hearing arguing and multiple gunshots from the house next door.

Troopers responded and subsequently observed Carrie Martini, 45, lying on the ground just outside the front door, deceased with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper torso.

Neighbors reported that they believed that the individual Martini had been arguing with was her ex-boyfriend a 60-year-old man, William Rowan, from Lake Ariel. Martini and Rowan recently ended their relationship, and Martini recently began dating an individual identified as Dale Thomas, 61. 

Upon PSP arrival, contact was unable to be made with the Rowan, and a perimeter was established around the residence. The PA State Police Special Emergency Response Team was activated and subsequently made entry into the residence. All three individuals were located deceased.

Through the investigation, it was determined that Rowan appeared at Martini’s residence earlier in the evening and confronted her and Thomas. During the confrontation, Rowan shot and killed both Thomas and Martini. Rowan then committed suicide by shooting himself.             

Autopsies are to be scheduled, and the investigation is still ongoing.

Dale Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Edward Howell at 3:51 AM. Address: Canaan Road, Waymart.

William Rowen was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Edward Howell at 3:55 AM . Address: Bidwell Hill Road, Lake Ariel
