Bouncing back

A month ago, on a Sunday evening, I received a message from a friend that a dear friend of hers had a sick dog. Over the weekend, the dog, Mia Ali, developed shortness of breath and had extreme difficulty breathing. The family took the dog to an area emergency room for evaluation.

Senior dogs and determination

May is Pet Cancer Awareness Month. Since 2005, this month is dedicated to raising awareness and combating this horrible disease. As part of my column this month, I wanted to capture another unique cancer success story from Catskill Veterinary Services.

Donor gifts new roof to animal shelter

ROCK HILL, NY — Winter is a difficult time of year for the Sullivan County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). Thanks to an anonymous donor’s generosity, the society’s shelter now has a new roof to better protect its cats and dogs from harsh weather.

Pet bird show

LIBERTY, NY — The 26th annual Pet Bird Show, hosted by the Catskill Exotic Bird Club, will be held at the Liberty Firehouse on Sunday, October 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is one of the longest-running exotic bird shows in the country.
