Lacawac Sanctuary aims to raise $25,000

WAYNE COUNTY, PA — The Lacawac Sanctuary has kicked off its 2018 annual fund, with the goal of raising $25,000 by the end of the year in support of outreach and education programs for the community.

The Lacawac Sanctuary is an educational environmental center and biological field station located near Lake Wallenpaupack. The annual fund, according to the sanctuary, is a critical piece of its budget. In an email sent to possible donors, the sanctuary said that more than 5,000 students have learned in its education programs since 2016 and that more than 15,000 people visit the sanctuary annually.

The sanctuary has spent more than 50 years monitoring water quality and lakes. Its 550-acre property also includes more than eight miles of hiking trails that are open year round.

Last year, more than 500 donors contributed to the sanctuary’s fund. To donate, visit lacawac.org/annual-fund.html.
