CATSKILLS AND HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has announced the release of its 2019 Watershed Recreation Newsletter. The newsletter, which can be viewed here (www.bit.ly/2019recnewsletter), provides information for those who enjoy outdoor activities on the region’s water-supply lands and reservoirs.
NYC watershed recreation spans over 136,000 acres, including marked hiking trails, family-friendly walking paths, day-use areas for picnics and more. The newsletter provides links to interactive maps and information about permits, new recreation areas and expansions, invasive species to look out for and becoming a volunteer.
Opening day of trout season
New York State:
April 1 for brook, brown and rainbow; lake trout and splake (a hybrid cross of male brook trout and female lake trout)
