GOSHEN, NY — What goes into training a harness horse for success? What is the distance of a harness horse track? Youth ages 11 to 18 are invited to learn about harness racing at an Introductory Day at the Harness Racing Museum & Goshen Historic Track on Monday, July 9. The Goshen Historic Track is located on 44 Park Pl.

Starting at 10 a.m., participants will tour the track and museum, drive in a simulator with live racing action and head to the backstretch of the track to learn about Standardbred horses and their care. No experience is necessary. Youth should bring a bag lunch.

Ellen Taylor, executive director of the Youth Harness Horse Foundation, will be the presenter. This program provides a hands-on opportunity for youth to learn about the harness racing industry and equine related career opportunities. A suggested donation of $5 per youth is requested. Registration is required in advance; visit www.sullivancce.org, email sullivan@cornell.edu, or call 845/292-6180.
