NORTHEAST PA — SEEDS (Sustainable Energy Education and Development Support) offers free residential energy assessments to home owners in Wayne, Pike, and Lackawanna counties. Learn how your home uses and loses energy and take steps to start saving money on energy costs. SEEDS trains local high school students in building science, heat transference and energy and water conservation. Accompanied by adult supervisors, the students will visit your home and help you learn what you can do to improve your home’s energy efficiency, safety and comfort. Many of the steps are simple and inexpensive and can save significant money in energy costs. Some energy savings are immediate.

“Once you get excited about saving money on energy, you keep looking for more ways to save money and energy,” says Kathy Dodge, one of the program volunteers. “It can become a game among family members—a challenging and fun way to teach the next generation about efficiency and sustainability. Some families even install solar panels, once their home’s efficiency is improved, and are generating much of the power they need by their own system.”

If you are interested in signing up for a free assessment, visit www.seedsgroup.net or call 570/245-1256 or email jenna@seedsgroup.net.
