Farmer Tax School: new rules to know

LIBERTY, NY — The United States Congress passed a new tax bill in December of 2017 that can present new considerations for farm business owners. A Farmer Tax School program will be held on Wednesday, February 28 to educate local farmers about this tax overhaul, the largest in over 30 years. Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (CCESC) offers this workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. at its Extension Education Center on 64 Ferndale-Loomis Rd.

Participants will learn about new tax rules and guidance for their farm business, as well as the previous tax credits, deductions and exemptions that continue to exist in the tax code.

The cost is $15 per person or $10 per CCESC enrollee. Anyone can enroll in CCESC for an annual contribution of $25 and receive a monthly subscription to the Extension Connection magazine.

Register by calling 845/292-6180, emailing sullivan@cornell.edu, or visiting www.sullivancce.org. Program fees support the cost of instructors, refreshments, materials and facilities. Additional donations for CCESC programs are appreciated.
