HANCOCK, NY — Friends of the Upper Delaware River (FUDR) will host its 10th annual One Bug event on April 28 to 30. The angling tournament itself, which takes place on April 29 and 30, is already sold out, but tickets are still available to the Friday evening kickoff dinner, featuring both a silent and a live auction, from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. at Fireman’s Park on the banks of the East Branch of the Upper Delaware River. Visit www.fudr.org.

The dinner takes place under a large tent decorated by FUDR Chairman Dan Plummer, a former visual display designer for Ralph Lauren. U.S. Representative John Faso, from New York’s 19th Congressional District, is the invited featured speaker. At the auctions, participants can bid on dozens of items including artwork, weekend getaways, guided fishing trips and high-quality outdoor gear.

At 10 a.m. on the same day, Faso will join FUDR on a site visit to the Sands Creek Restoration Project. Participants should plan to meet at 9:30 a.m. on that Friday at the Friends of the Upper Delaware River office at 158 E. Front St.

Sands Creek is a tributary to the West Branch of the Upper Delaware River. The project was completed in 2016 and will help improve wild trout habitat, mitigate flooding and reduce excessive sediment runoff into the Delaware River. Participants will view project features that include the placement of boulders and woody materials to enhance habitat features, reconnection of stream to floodplain to help mitigate flooding and the placement of natural structures to stabilize erosive stream banks. All participants should bring rain gear and waterproof boots.
