Thank you Lake Huntington Fire Department

Sullivan West celebrated the beginning of homecoming with a bonfire, thanks to the efforts of the Lake Huntington Fire Department. The idea of a homecoming bonfire, initiated by the high school student council, partnering with the Lake Huntington Fire Department and the Sullivan West HS PTSO, created an event to be remembered.

The Lake Huntington firemen originally offered their firehouse for the site of the festivities, but with additional planning we were able to host the first annual homecoming bonfire on the high school property, cultivating an evening of games, music and food for everyone. The firemen built the bonfire, monitored its safety and engaged with the students and staff for the entire evening. We are so fortunate to have them as our partners in this project.

If you can, picture 250 plus students, parents, coaches and families enjoying the 75° night to celebrate the fall senior athletes and the teams that will be playing during the week of homecoming. We sincerely thank each and every one of the firemen under the leadership of Ed and Jason Kraack. A memorable night for all who attended, and a tradition was born.

My personal thanks to all who contributed and organized this wonderful evening of celebration.

Dr. Nancy M. Hackett

Superintendent of Schools

Sullivan West Central School District
