Kathy, a dedicated mother, daughter, and sister passed over on Wednesday, August 23, 2018 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, NY where she was attended by her compassionate nurse, Dave and her expert, caring doctors. She was 67 years old and succumbed to a rare blood disorder.

She was the daughter of Harry McFadden of Philadelphia, PA and Anna McGuire McFadden of Brooklyn, NY.

Kathy grew up in the borough of Ambler, Montgomery County, PA and spent every summer and much time afterward at Mohican Lake in Glen Spey, NY. Kathy loved the lake and during her youth enjoyed roller skating at the rink in Yulan, watching movies in the little theater in Barryville and water-skiing from Eddie Clark’s CrisCraft with her friends. On Sundays, she attended Mass at St. Anne’s in Shohola and St. Anthony’s in Yulan. Later she played expert pool at Pete’s Sand Beach on Highland Lake and at the Mohican Lake Inn, winning many games.  She danced to the music at Black Bear near Port Jervis and Pinehurst on Highland Lake.

After graduation from high school, Kathy gained employment at the Prudential Insurance Company processing claims. She was a saleslady for Green’s Department store in Middletown, NY, worked the Mama shift at Kolmar “on the hill” in Port Jervis, managed the luncheonette and ran the register at the Roney Plaza Condominium on Miami Beach, and waitressed at Denny’s in Arlington, TX. Then she worked on the road crew back in Florida where she drove the asphalt truck and finally drove tractor-trailers for Swift, driving up and down the West Coast across to New York City.

Kathy raised her two children with love and devotion, always making sure they had everything they needed and continued her support for them into and through their adulthood to the very last day of her life.

Kathy retired to her cherished Mohican Lake where she sought peace and solace and reconnected with dear friends.

Kathy is survived by her two children, adoring daughter, Kelly Spencer and loving son, Steven Spencer, both of Mohican Lake; her beloved sister, Anne McFadden of Germanville, PA; and best friend ever, Cherie Rhoades of Arlington, TX.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 7 at St. Anthony’s Church in Yulan, NY at 11:30 a.m.
