Gilbert “Gil” Geelan
Gilbert “Gil” Geelan of Beach Lake, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 31, 2019 after a hard fought battle against cancer. He was 72.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Nancy; loving daughters Danielle Geelan of Old Bridge, New Jersey and Nichole and Nick Frustaci of Staten Island, NY; step-sons Thomas and Melissa Davis of Panama City Beach, FL and Joseph Schiebling of Beach Lake, PA; four wonderful grandchildren, Lauren, Austin, Katie and Nicky; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Gil was born on February 5, 1946 to Gilbert “Buddy” and Rose Geelan in Brooklyn, NY. He moved to Staten Island as a young child and graduated from Curtis High School in 1963. Gil had a successful career as an engineer at ConEdison for over 30 years. In 1970, Gil married his loving first wife Linda (neé Pettersen), to whom he was married for 35 years until her passing in 2005. Gil raised his family in Staten Island until relocating to Pennsylvania in the early 2000s. Finding a home in Beach Lake, he spent many evenings watching woodland creatures play and enjoying the sounds of the beautiful Delaware River.
In 2011, Gil married Nancy (née Kelly) who served as his best friend, companion and care giver until his passing. Nancy and Gil spent lots of time together cooking, visiting friends and family and vacationing in sunny Florida.
Gil lived with a zest for life. He will always be remembered for his crazy and humorous stories, stylish hat collection and delicious Italian cooking. His antipasto was almost as good as his tales, and both will be sorely missed.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 3, and Monday, February 4, followed by a service at Harrison Rasmussen Funeral Home of Barryville, NY.
