George E. Schalck, Jr., 70 passed suddenly into eternal rest on Monday, January 7, 2019.  The only son of George Sr. and Betsy, he was born on January 18, 1948.  A lifelong resident of Cochecton Center, NY. George was known county-wide as “Chumley.”  He dedicated his life to the running of the family dairy farm, a passion that continued until his passing. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Maureen (Ryan) Schalck; his son Jason of Lake Elsinore, CA.; two grandchildren; three sisters, Debbie and Dee of Narrowsburg, and Nancy of Washington State; his uncle Bruce Schalck of Cochecton Center; two nieces; his fur baby, “Rebel,” and dozens of friends whom he considered family.

All who knew him loved his gentle manner and his quiet humor.  Although he is gone from this world, we know he would take comfort in knowing his beloved wife is surrounded by so much love and support from both family and friends.

A memorial service will be conducted at the time of his family’s choosing.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Harrison Rasmussen Funeral Home of Barryville, NY 845/557-8010.
