Taking care of our own

I’m often heard telling folks that it’s important we “take care of our own”—that we pay county employees a living wage that doesn’t require them to be lining up at our Social Services office just to put food on the family table, or, just as bad, taking their skills elsewhere. I’ve written about that topic in this very space.

First woman to lead NY Senate

ALBANY, NY — There are 63 senate districts in New York State, and this year 31 are held by Republicans and 32 are held by Democrats. Republicans still hold the majority however because one Democrat, Simcha Felder, caucused with the Republicans.

REGION — In New York and Pennsylvania there are many important elections in this midterm poll, including one for governor in Pennsylvania, one for Attorney General in New York, one senate race in each state, congressmen and congresswomen, state senators, representatives and assembly people.

Delgado pulls slightly ahead of Faso

NY 19TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT — As a swing district, the New York 19TH Congressional is one of the most closely watched in the country and a new poll from Monmouth University has Democrat Antonio Delgado pulling ahead of Republican John Faso.
