HONESDALE, PA — Wayne County District Attorney Patrick L. Robinson is seeking help from the public in locating a suspect wanted in connection with a murder.  Police are looking for Steven Cooper, 19, of Mount Pocono. Investigators believe Cooper is the fifth suspect in a homicide that occurred in Lehigh Township, Wayne County on December 8, 2017.

Joseph Keith Stengline, Sr. was beaten and stomped to death in December 2017 by five individuals who entered his home to rob and assault the home’s occupants. Robinson says the intruders kicked and repeatedly stomped Stengline’s head, resulting in a fractured skull and a subdural hematoma. He died five days after the assault in the hospital.

The four other homicide defendants, Coneil “Murda” Moore, Lewis “Ricky” Tucker, Jr., Darian “Smoove” Daniels and Kevin “Kas” Jordan, have each had their preliminary hearings and have been bound over on all charges for trial.

The four defendants are all facing trial for first- and second-degree murder, robbery, burglary and related charges.

According to a press release from Robinson’s office, “Cooper is known to frequent the Mount Pocono and Tannersville area of Monroe County. The public’s assistance in locating Cooper is requested. As a reminder, hindering apprehension is a violation of the law. Anyone with information as to Cooper’s whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 or the Wayne County Detectives at 570/229-1204.”
