YULAN, NY — Community members and congregants of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Yulan kicked off Super Bowl Sunday with a Super Breakfast, the 16th annual such event sponsored by the John Cardinal O’Connor Council 12663 of the Knights of Columbus.
The breakfast is one of the means by which the Knights raise funds for various endeavors. According to Richard Quinn, one of the members, these endeavors include providing scholarships to Eldred High School graduates. In the past, $500 scholarships have been awarded to four or five students.
Andrew Valenti, another member, commented that community support has always been strong for this event as well as for the annual pork roast dinner held in the spring.
