Charges for heroin delivery resulting in death

MILFORD, NY — Three Pike County women have been charged in connection with selling heroin that ultimately led to three overdose deaths. According to Pike County Coroner Christopher Brighton all three deaths were the result of heroin mix with Fentanyl. The victims were Jennifer Lynn Bosch, 27; Deniz “Nicole” Duman, 32; and Erna Lee Abramowski, 50.

According to the investigation by Pike County detectives, Pennsylvania State Police, Eastern Pike Regional and the Pike County Coroner’s office, the deaths occurred in November and December 2017.

Detectives made three “controlled” purchases, using a confidential informant, from Katie Woolsey, 31. During two of the drug buys, packets of heroin had the same name and stamp as heroin that had been tied to the three deaths. Testing showed the drugs positive for heroin and Fentanyl.

A witness to one of the drug buys told detectives she had traveled to the home of another woman, Lisa Schmidt, 47, and the witness said Woolsey then arrived and sold heroin to Bosch and the witness. Schmidt later admitted that she acted as a middleman in drug deals with Woolsey and she admitted according to a press release, “obtaining the specific heroin found at the overdose scenes.”

In February of 2018, Woolsey was pulled over for traffic violation and police found 110 glassine packets of heroin. She also admitted to detectives that she did sell heroin, and “was familiar with the stamp that was located at all three overdose deaths in the area because she had sold that specific stamp for approximately two months.

“Woosley was also aware the heroin she had sold to Schmidt contained Fentanyl, because her dealer in Paterson, NJ had told her.” She advised the customers who bought the heroin that the batch was strong.

In April of 2018, officers interviewed Gianna Rose, 21, about a series of messages between Rose and two of the other victims, Duman and Abramowski. Rose said she acted as a middleman to set up heroin deals for the two. Rose said Woolsey would give Rose a few bags of heroin as compensation. Acting on a search warrant for Rose’s cell phone and Facebook account, messages were recovered from the victims about purchasing drugs.

“During these two transactions both Rose and Woolsey admit the specific heroin stamp they were delivering was the same stamp that was found at the overdose scenes.”

Woolsey has been charged with three counts of delivery of a controlled substance resulting in a death, and related charges. She has been incarcerated in Pike County Jail.

Gianna Rose has been charged with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance resulting in a death, and related charges. She is also in the Pike County Jail.

Schmidt has been charged with one count of delivery of a controlled substance resulting in death, and other charges. She is also currently housed in Pike County Jail. Bail for all three of the accused has been set at $5,000,000.

A person convicted of the delivering a controlled substance that results in death can be sentenced to up to 40 years in prison
