Lauren “Lauris” Grasso (née Reitsema) of Cochecton Center passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 1 at the age of 70.

Lauren was born in Jersey City on December 14, 1946. A longtime resident of Bergen County, NJ, she was employed by Timeplex in Woodcliff Lake for over 25 years and was a parishioner of the Old North Reformed Church in Dumont, NJ.

Lauren married Rudy on Labor Day weekend, 1985, at their country home in Cochecton, to which they retired together. Her deep love of her parents’ lake house in Highland Lakes was fostered and shared in her own home where she spent her days knitting, playing the organ and swimming in her pond. Her legacy is left in the memories made there with her family and extended family. On even the coldest winter country days, Lauren could warm your heart with her smile, a cup of her “secret recipe” hot chocolate, and a snifter of blackberry brandy.

Lauren is survived by her husband, Rudy; her son Scott Snyder and wife, Cindy; step-children Michael Grasso and wife Patricia, Tony Grasso and wife Angela, Ronald Grasso and wife Michelle, and Cathie Mitura; sisters-in-law Ethel Reitsema and Josephine Grasso; grandchildren Richard, Dana, Michael, Anthony, Christopher, Justin, Matthew and Christopher; great-grandchildren Christian, Angelina, Michael, Giovanni, Bella, and Sophia; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Lauren is preceded in death by her brother Robert Reitsema and her parents, Mente and Margaret Reitsema.
