John Geba, a longtime resident of Glen Spey, NY, died Monday, November 6, 2017 with his family by his side. He was 90.

He was born September 17, 1927 in Cherche, Ukraine, the son of the late Gregory Geba and the late Anna Hladun Geba, and immigrated to America in 1949. His studies in Ukraine and Germany were in engineering. He was the plant production manager of the S.S. White division of Pennwalt Corporation based on Staten Island, NY until he moved to Glen Spey in 1971 to purchase the Port Jervis Bakery, where he was the co-owner until its sale in 1986. He was also a retired co-owner of Geba Realty Associates, a member of the National Association of Realtors, the New York Association of Realtors and the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors. He was a member of the Ukrainian Congress Committee and the Ukrainian National Association. John was a member of the Lumberland Lions Club and was an avid bowler on a league team at PJ Bowl. John was an active member of St. Volodymyr’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Glen Spey where he was a vibrant supporter and served as a trustee for over 20 years.

John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elizabeth C. Geba, on September 16, 1998.

Surviving are son, Dr. Gregory Geba and his wife Pilar Geba; daughter Donna Geba Hrabarchuk and her husband Dr. Eugene Hrabarchuk, daughter Linda Geba; five grandchildren, Adriana and her husband Marcel, Maria, Sonia, Eugene and John; sister-in-law Maria Geba; and several nieces and nephews including Alexandra, Katherine, Bohdan and Lyubov. He was predeceased by his brother, Bohdan Geba and his sisters, Daria Geba and Lydia Geba.

A Liturgy Mass was held Saturday, November 11, 2017 at at St. Volodymyr’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 2104 County Route 41, Glen Spey, NY with Rev. Yaroslav Kostyk officiating. Burial was at Glen Spey Cemetery, Glen Spey, NY, next to his beloved wife Elizabeth.
