Gertrude E. Reiser, Cochecton, NY, a longtime resident of the area, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. She was 83.

The daughter of the late Carol Wagner, she was born May 6, 1934 in South Canaan, PA. Gert was a housewife and took great care of her family. She was the widow of Paul L. Reiser, who had passed away on March 10, 1995. Gert was a member of the Narrowsburg United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday school for many years.

A family statement reads: “Gertrude was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and looked forward to the holidays. She was a caring person. She enjoyed her family and was proud of them. She will be greatly missed by all.” She is survived by five children: Darlene Reiser of Woodridge, NY, John Reiser of Monticello, NY, Barbara Reiser and her companion Gary Saar of Lake Ariel, PA, David Reiser of Dupont, PA and Peggy Davis of Beach Lake, PA; 12 grandchildren, 14 greatgrandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins.

Gertrude is predeceased by her mother Carol Wagner, husband Paul L. Reiser, daughter Diane Reiser, brothers Walter Wagner and Robert Wagner.

The family said, “We would like to thank Mom’s close neighbors; little do they know that those little gestures meant a great deal to her, whether it be taking her to an appointment, plowing the driveway, mowing the lawn or getting her furnace working in the middle of a blizzard when no one could get to her.”

She will be deeply missed by Harry Byer and her good friend Shirley Rose, who was always just a phone call away. A celebration of Life and burial of her cremains will be held at a later date to be announced. In lieu of fl owers donations can be made to the Cochecton Men’s Club, PO Box 10, Cochecton NY or the Cochecton Preservation Society, 111 Bernas Rd., Cochecton NY.
