Dorothy E. Blaich, a resident of Sunset Beach, NC, passed away on May 19, 2018 after a nine-year battle with lung cancer. She is the daughter of the late William and Florence Schmid of Queens, NY.

She married William P. Blaich of Staten Island in December, 1970, and lived in Staten Island, NY for the next 35 years. She is the mother of Peter Blaich, Christopher Blaich, Matthew Blaich and Ellen Galuris; and the grandmother of nine grandchildren. She gave up her career as a TWA flight stewardess to become a wife, homemaker and especially a mom—a title she loved. After leaving Staten Island in 2005, she became a snowbird, splitting her time between Eldred, NY and Sunset Beach NC, where she finally settled.
