LIBERTY, NY — Sullivan County sheriff Michael Schiff and county treasurer Nancy Buck at a news conference at Mr. G’s Restaurant in Liberty announced that they will both run for office this years.
It will be Schiff’s fourth campaign. Schiff, a Republican, is well established in the county, and when he ran four years ago he had no opponent. So far this time, the Democrats have not announced a candidate for the office.
At the press conference on Feb. 1, Schiff said he looks forward to leading the men and women in the department to serve the residents of Sullivan County.
Buck, also a Republican, was appointed to the treasurer position in 2014 after the previous treasurer, Ira Cohen, passed away.
This will mark her first election, but she said she has served in the department, either as treasurer or deputy treasurer for 17 years. The Democrats have not yet announced whether they will field a candidate for the office.
