A recycling center and transfer station is being constructed on State Route 52 outside of Jeffersonville. Jim Hughson first proposed building a recycling center at this location in 2010. In spite of objections from neighbors, the building, which was mandated by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation as a condition for the operation to move forward, is now under construction.
Christopher Lockwood of the Sullivan County Partnership for Economic Development told county legislators at a meeting on December 1 that the Partnership is considering a loan request from the operator. When completed, the operation will be the first private recycling center and transfer station in Sullivan County.
